The story is about a young brown-haired young woman named Sophie who is the eldest of her sisters, and she runs a hat shop with her middle sister in the magical kingdom of Angari.  One dark night, Sophie meets a witch of the prairie who steals her youth and turns her into a ninety-year-old.  Sophie did not want her mother or her sisters to see her with that appearance, so she decided to go to the prairie in the hope that she would find someone to remove the magic that had been placed on her, and there she met an enchanted scarecrow who leads her to Howl Castle.
